Can prior capital losses carryovers be entered into the free edition or do I need to purchase the premier edition, even though I have no schedule D transactions?

A capital loss carryover has to be reported on Schedule D, even if you have nothing else that requires Schedule D. So you cannot enter a capital loss carryover in TurboTax Free Edition. You would have to use either TurboTax Online Premier, or any edition of the CD/Download TurboTax software.
