Can my partner and I (file separately) split the itemized deduction (ex: Property Tax, Mortgage Interest and others)?

My partner and I are filing separately as singles.   But, we paid Property tax equally.

Can we split the itemized deduction (ex: Property Tax, Mortgage Interest and others) and file them?

Thanks,

x

Yes, you can split those expenses as long as you do not enter over 100% of the total expense between you.

You can split anything that you both paid and that you both had your name on.  However, if you and your partner were legally married on December 31st of 2025 then you need to file as "Married-Filing-Separately", not as 'Single'.  If not then you're all good.
