If your GF's child is not also YOUR child, she would be better off to claim her child herself. And if you claim her as a dependent she cannot claim her child. A dependent cannot have a dependent. Your GF can file her own tax return in order to get the child tax credit and the 3rd EIP for her child, even if she did not work or have income.
