Can I use my SSI income to file a taxes? I did not work in 2016 and received SSI benefits.

Can I use my SSI income to file a taxes? I did not work in 2016 and received SSI benefits.
No, you cannot. SSI income is not considered taxable and you are not required to file a tax return if that is your only income. If you file, all return will show is zeros, there is no benefit of filing.
