Can I use my EIN number instead of my social security number under self-employed personal information?
UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019
Yes. Since you have an EIN for your business you can enter it using these steps:
- Click on the Income & Expenses tab.
- In the Self-Employment section click the Start/Revisit box.
- On the screen, Your 2019 self-employed work summary, click the Edit box next to your business.
- On the Here's your [business type] info screen, click on the Edit box next to General Info.
- On the next screen, click on the Edit icon (pencil) in Payments and identification.
- After a few screens you will come to Do you have your own Employer ID Number (EIN)?
- Mark the Yes radio button. Enter your EIN in the box that appears and click Continue.
