You will have to amend the 2025 tax return that you filed to change your dependency.

The Form 1040-X for amending a 2025 federal tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 02/25/2026

An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-curr...

Your parent will have to print and mail their tax returns, including you as a dependent, because the IRS has already received a tax return with your Social Security number.  Amending your return will still not allow your parent to e-file their return.

AFTER your return has been full processed you will need to amend and change the way you answered the question in MY INFO that asked if you can be claimed as someone else's dependent.  You cannot amend yet.

Your parents do not have to wait for you to amend.    Waiting will not help that at all.

They can print, sign and mail their return that claims you, since mailed returns are not rejected.  It will take a lot longer for them to get their refund if they have to file by mail.

Or they can get an IP PIN to e-file:
