You would be eligible for earned income credit but not for Head of Household assuming you don’t pay more than half of the expenses of maintaining the home.
I did not know that you can still qualify for the earned income tax credit if you file single. I thought one of the qualifications was filing head of household. I don’t solely support the entire household but I am the only provider for me and my children. Thanks for the help!
@ahabani13 You can file using Single as your filing status and claim your children as dependents and should still be eligible for child-related credits like child tax credit, earned income credit and childcare credit. All of the child-related refundable credits are based on having income from working---so you must show income from working to get any of those credits.
