Yes, you can try to efile multiple times. At some point you could hit a limit, but it's not clear what that number is. It's a lot more than 2, however. Many people try multiple times.
Be sure you use the 2020 AGI from the original 2020 return, not an amended one. If married filing jointly, both parties use the same total AGI--do not split or otherwise allocate it.
If it keeps getting rejected, you can try this:
If your 2020 return was delayed in processing for several months, or if you did not efile prior to mid-November 2021, you can try using an AGI of 0 (zero.)
In any case, if it keeps getting rejected, I would always try a 0 before giving up.
Did you receive unemployment in 2021. If so, subtract that amount from AGI before submitting.
