Are you using desktop software? Skip around all you want. Be aware that there are many updates still to come. And the the "refund monitor" means nothing until ALL of your information has been entered.
The program works best when you complete the interview in the order it is laid out WHEN the program is fully operational. If you start now be aware you will need to revisit all the sections you touched to make sure the updates are applied.
You can jump around,
BUT,
after the updates are released that make the program fully functional for 2020 (say, January 21 or so), go through everything in order one time before you file. Just to be safe.
(Turbotax will accept returns for e-filing beginning January 7, but they will go into cold storage. The IRS will officially start processing e-filed returns January 27. Depending on the forms you need, certain forms and tax law changes may not be ready until February.)
If you jump around, you are responsible for making sure that you go to every topic that you need. TurboTax will not prompt you about something that you skipped or omitted.
