TurboTax only prepares a few city or local tax returns as an extra step in your state return. For most local tax returns you are on your own. You may have to ask around amongst your neighbors, etc. to find out if you have a local tax and how to pay it. “Google “ local tax for your area. Call your city government, etc. Your only record of paying your local tax will be your own bank/credit card records
which one, because TurboTax does not do many municipal income tax returns?
TurboTax supports municipal tax returns primarily for select cities in Ohio (including ~300 RITA/CCA cities), New York (NYC and Yonkers), and limited cities in Michigan (e.g., Battle Creek, Grand Rapids, Highland Park). See: Which city tax returns can I do in the TurboTax state program?
Most municipal returns require you to manually initiate them in the state interview and often need to be printed and mailed, rather than e-filed.
Many city returns generated by TurboTax cannot be e-filed and must be printed and mailed, especially RITA/CCA returns.
For cities that are not listed, you may need to file directly through your municipality's website
