The tax data file from 2017 can be transferred from your computer to the 2018 online editions.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for transferring to the online editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900883-how-do-i-transfer-last-year-s-return-into-turbotax-online

it says I have to move my file from MAC to a windows computer (which I don't have) to import the data. Did I read this wrong? Thanks for your answer.

You must have read that wrong...as long as you have the 2017 tax data file on your computer where you are accessing the 2018 online return, you can transfer the 2017 tax data file, .tax2017
1. Sign in to TurboTax Online and start a new return, or continue a return you already started by selecting the Take me to my return button.
2, After the screen has loaded, select the TaxTools drop-down menu in the left-hand column, and then select Tools.
3. In the pop-up window, select the Transfer last year's TurboTax return from your computer link. (If you don’t see this option, you may need to Clear & Start Over.)

The tax data transfer includes everything you entered on the 2017 tax return. Especially depreciated assets and all carryovers.
