Can I go back and digitally sign a tax return for 2021 even though it was not filed electronically?

This is for a mortgage application and would be easier to do this and upload the file.

If you did not electronically file your return then you can only sign it on paper. There would be no way to officially digitally sign your official return that was submitted to the IRS by mail.
