Can I file two separate individual tax returns using one Deluxe CD I bought from Sam's? or else am I supposed to buy two CDs for two tax filings?

Yes you can do unlimited returns with the Desktop CD program.  You get 5 free federal efiles and can print and mail any more you have.

If you bought the Deluxe version that comes with a free state you get 1 free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns too.  But each state return including the first one is 19.99 or 24.99 to efile.  Or you can print and mail the state for free.

To start a new return go up to FILE - NEW.  But first be sure to save your return (FILE - SAVE) with a name you can tell apart from the others.  Your tax returns will end in .tax 2016 and will be stored in your Documents and then in a Turbo Tax folder.

To add California I was prompted to pay $49.99, so I don't think this is accurate. I purchased the download version (Home & Business) for Mac.

Yes. In the CD/Download version of TurboTax, you can prepare as many federal returns as you want. Up to five can be e-filed. Additional returns must be printed and mailed. Most customers who need to file separate returns for family members find that the CD/Download version is more economical.

Yes, you receive 5 free federal tax return e-files with the download version, same as with the CD.
