If you are required to file an income tax return then all of your income will be reported on that form. If you have no income all year then unless you had Marketplace insurance OR you did not get the advance stimulus check this year you would have no reason to file a 2020 return. The refundable credits you get for having kids are only allowed if you have earned income. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/heres-what-taxpayers-should-consider-when-determining-if-they-need-to-f...
If you received no income of any kind in 2020 then there is no reason or need to file a tax return.
However, if you did not receive a stimulus payment in 2020 and are eligible you must file a 2020 tax return. Also, if you received unemployment compensation in 2020, that income is required to be reported on a 2020 tax return.
If you have been receiving unemployment compensation you will need to go to the state unemployment site to get your 1099G in January. Your 1099G must be entered when you prepare your return.
Unemployment compensation is taxable on your federal return. Enter your 1099G for unemployment in Federal>Wages and Income>Unemployment
