Oh, that's a no-no!   You should NOT do that.

You should wait until you get any W-2's, 1099's, etc. in January.    You will need additional info that is on the actual W-2's, 1099's, etc.   You can start to enter other items into your return, but you should not file it until you have all your tax documents.

Moreover, the TurboTax 2016 program is not finished and all the Federal and State forms are not finalized.  There will be several program updates in the next few weeks.

The IRS will not even start processing returns until January 23, 2017.   TurboTax will open for efiling in early January, but those returns will be held until January 23, and if efiled early, one cannot make any changes if you discover an error, get another tax document, etc.  One would have to amend the return later, which can take the IRS up to 16 weeks to process.

Also starting this year, the IRS will not process any refunds until February 15 for those people who have EIC (earned income credit) or ACTC (additional child tax credit).   So people with those items in their returns will not get their Federal refunds until late February.
