Can I file Head of household for my family, even if my sister files head of household for her family but we live at the same address?

only 1 person can file HOH per household. To file HOH you must have paid more then 50% of the household expenses hence only 1 person can be over that threshold.

To file as HOH you must:

  • Pay for more than half of the household expenses.
  • Be considered unmarried for the tax year, and.
  • You must have a qualifying child or dependent.
