If you do file for state use taxes (I know many people don't but IT'S THE LAW 😉 ), you're supposed to give an accurate total of taxable purchases (usually online) on which you didn't pay state sales tax.
You really do need to go thru your online purchases for the year for that, as a growing number of retailers & states now DO collect state sales taxes due to stricter state laws, especially after the Supreme Court's Wayfair decision some years back. (For example, Amazon now collects sales tax on all taxable "sold by Amazon" purchases nationwide; it MAY also collect tax on "marketplace" purchases sold by others on the Amazon site IF your state has a "marketplace facilitator" law requiring it, but not all states do. Purchases on eBay are also often subject to marketplace facilitator laws.) There are also a few situations where taxability in your state may be in question; for example, my own state of Arkansas now taxes downloadable books, music & video, but generally NOT downloadable software (even though software sold on physical media IS taxable here).
Utah expects you to be as accurate as possible. They provided this worksheet to help you do it.
