Can I electronically file the state version of a trust tax return? Virginia requires that its version of federal form 1041 be filed electronically.

Turbo Tax  does not support the electronic filing of an estate or trust return for the state of Virginia for the 2017 tax season. The state of Virginia has a requirement that the Trust and Estate return must be submitted electronically.

In cases where the software does not support this, they have created Form 770, Waiver Request form. On this form there is an option you can select: Software Doesn't Support Electronic Filing. This form must be submitted with your return.
