You are not required to enter a drivers license to e-file your federal return. Some states are pretty picky about the ID you enter, so if your state will not let you e-file with that license you will have to print and mail the state.
The IRS and State tax offices are now asking that tax filers provide their driver’s license or state-issued ID number to help prevent identity theft and fraud, but it is not required in order to file your taxes, for most states.
