Can I claim the amount I owed last year

Last year I underpaid and ended up owing federal and state. Is there anywhere on this years return that I need to report this

Payments made in 2021 for federal tax owed for a prior tax year are not entered on a federal tax return.

Payments made in 2021 for state taxes owed for a prior tax year can be entered on a federal tax return.

To enter state income taxes paid -

• Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
• Click on Deductions and Credits
• Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
• Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
• On Other Income Taxes, click on the start or update button

On the next screen scroll down to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2021

Or enter state taxes paid in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to state taxes paid

There are six states that allow you to enter the federal tax you paid on your state return--Alabama, Iowa. Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, and Oregon.  If you are filing in one of these states watch for the deduction when you prepare your state return.
