A child born any time during the tax year, even at 11:50pm on Dec 31st of the tax year, is considered to have been living with those *who qualify* to claim them, for the whole year. Generally, the parents claim them. But if this is a situation where you as the grandparent qualify to claim the grand child, then when asked how long they have lived with you, you must select "The whole year".
