Can I claim my step child on my taxes?
No you don’t claim your wife as a dependent. A spouse is never a dependent. You file a Joint return for both of you combined even if only one person has income. You can claim her child on the Joint return.

No you don’t claim your wife as a dependent. A spouse is never a dependent. You file a Joint return for both of you combined even if only one person has income. You can claim her child on the Joint return.

Are you doing a 2017 return? Have you started yet? TurboTax Online for TY17 will no longer be available to new customers beginning 10/16/18.
Customers who have not yet e-filed their returns will not be able to do so after Oct. 15, 2018 11:59pm your time. If the return is complete, they will be able to print the return to mail it by going to My Tax Home, or My Docs.
