I came to US from China on August 2012 as an F-1 student. Now more than 5 years has passed, I think I become resident alien in 2017 (still on F-1 visa). But I don't know about my son. He came to US with my wife on F-2 visa in 2014 and stayed with me most of the time since then. My son is still on F-2 visa, is he a resident alien now by just following my status change? Thx!

Since he first came to the US in 2014, with the F-2 visa, he is considered as a nonresident for five years (2014-2018). He will become a resident for tax purposes if he meets the Substantial Presence Test SPT in 2019. You can then claim him on your 2019 taxes.
As far as your spouse, since you are a US resident for tax purposes, if you want to file jointly with her on your 2017 taxes, you can make an election to claim her as a resident. Please see Nonresident to resident
