No.

Not if he was not a student in 2016.

To claim a dependent, the person must be your "Qualifying Child" or "Qualifying Relative".

Your son would not pass the qualifying child requirement unless he was under 19, or under 24 and a full time student.

He would not be a qualifying relative because he made more than $4,050.

Not if he was not a student in 2016.

To claim a dependent, the person must be your "Qualifying Child" or "Qualifying Relative".

Your son would not pass the qualifying child requirement unless he was under 19, or under 24 and a full time student.

If he was a full time student in 2016, yes. If he was not a full time student in 2016, then NO.
