A non-relative cannot qualify you for filing HOH.  The person may be your dependent, but you would have to file as single if you are unmarried.

Yes, bsch4477 is correct, you do NOT get to be HOH but STILL may claim a dependent, provided that meet other qualifications.  Thanks for the clarification bsch4477!
