You must enter your state estimated tax payments on your federal return and the amount will be carried over to the state return. Please follow the directions below to input your state estimated tax payments made during 2019.
- Log in and open your return (unless already open).
- Click the Federal tab on the left side of the screen.
- Click the Deductions & Credits tab on the top of the screen.
- Scroll down and click show more beside Estimated Tax Payments.
- Click Start/Revisit beside State Estimated Taxes for 2019.
- On the next screen, enter your state estimated payments made.
Alternatively, you can type state estimated tax payments into the search field and click the link that appears in the search results and follow directions 4-6 above.

My question has either been misunderstood or I have stated it poorly. I paid Estimated Minnesota State Income Tax in 2019. Form M1 of the 2019 Minnesota Tax form provides a place (line 25) for that amount to be entered. But the online turbotax version of the 2019 Minnesota Tax program does NOT provide for entering a value for that line and consequently computes the tax due for 2019 as though no estimated payments have been made.
