Can I check the status of my over payment if I want it applied to my estimated taxes for next year? Do I still use "Where's my refund" or is there another way to check?

I filed my return on paper in early April.  I want all of my refund applied to my 2019 estimated taxes.  How do I check the status of my tax return if I cannot use "Where's my refund".

Maybe get a transcript?  IRS get transcript    <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript">https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript</a>

Try using ZERO for the refund amount ... otherwise an account transcript will be the way you know.

If you have no refund coming, don't bother with the "Where's my refund" tool.
It will show nothing.

If applying money to next year, always leave a small amount for refund, like $50, so you can see that everything went as expected.

If the return was accepted then that is your proof the return is being processed.  If the IRS disagrees with your return you will get a letter.  Just check the transcript in a couple of months if you really need to know.
