And.....do not mess with your return at this time. You cannot amend now. You need to do that on a special form called a 1040X that will not be available until late February. Leave your return just like it was when you e-filed it or you will mess it up.
You made a very common mistake that lots of kids make the first time they prepare a tax return. You are 16----you can still be claimed as a dependent and you have to say so on your own tax return. If you go on to college, you can be claimed until the year you turn 24.
My dad figured it out he talked to a tax expert on here and the problem was resolved...the initial problem they said was that when I done my taxes I clicked that I couldnt be claimed as a dependent..after speaking with a tax expert with him it was because he didnt put in his assigned IP-PIN once he got that from the irs website his return was accepted thank you all who responded im excited to get my first tax check ever
