Do they have a Social Security number or an ITIN issued by the IRS for the dependents? If not, they cannot be entered on a tax return as a dependent.
Probably not. In order to claim a dependent, they must be a US Resident Alien, Citizen, resident of Mexico or Canada or a national. If they did not come here on a Green Card, then they would not meet substantial presence test to be considered a resident alien. They would also need to meet the criteria below in order for you to claim them.
Also, what is your Residency status? Are you a US Citizen, Resident Alien, or Non-Resident Alien? If you also came here in December and did not come on a Green Card, you would not have met the Substantial presence test which means you may currently be a Non-Resident Alien.
