The IRS has an interactive tool that will guide you on who can be claimed as a dependent.

If you have legitimately established your domicile  (your permanent home) away from your parents, and you lived in it for more than 6 months of 2017, and you're not just temporarily away to attend school, and given your income of $8,000., you cannot be claimed as a dependent by your parents.
