California tax board claims we owe for 2016 but won't admit we have already paid state tax = $9K We may owe them a little more but they ask for $13K. no response to ltrs

We have provided detailed documentation and calulations. They simply respond by sending another form letter saying we owe them $13K. How to do I get them to pay attention?

Seek assistance from the taxpayer advocate office and/or  a local tax attorney if you have issues you cannot resolve.
