CA non-resident and Utah resident : Utah tax return ???

For 2024, I am a CA NR (non-resident) and Utah resident. I first completed CA state tax before starting to work on Utah state tax. I checked CA NR state return and the proper CA adjustments are made to the federal AGI.

Checking Utah state return, they are using the same federal AGI. I am expecting Utah AGI to be -$6,620 or $0.

Federal AGI is $36,441 and this includes

- CA W2 wage $4,802

- Rental properties income $38,259

Above is why I am expecting Utah adjusted AGI to be $0 or  -$6,620.

I checked TC-40A and Part 2 Subtractions from Income is blank.

Pls help!!!

CA non-resident and Utah resident : Utah tax return ???

Sharing information I gather ...

Initially I presumed turbotax will update Utah income adjustments for those amounts in which under CA tax returns I declare $0 (i.e 100% utah income) or those amounts I declare it is 100% CA income. My presumption is wrong!

In Utah tax return TC40, it uses the federal AGI. And then you apply additions and subtractions to this federal AGI. Under turbotax Utah return and subtractions selection, select something that says income not accounted for by turbotax. Enter the adjustment amounts in "Equitable subtractions".

In the forms section, in TC 40A Part 2 Subtractions from income you will see Code 79  Equitable adjustments and the subtraction amounts to be applied to federal AGI.
