It is not too late. If you were not, are not, and cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return you have two options.
1. File an amendment (1040X) along with a corrected form 1040 with the box "unchecked" to indicate you are not a dependent. That will need to be mailed in and currently the IRS is not processing any paper returns.
Eventually, they will process and make you eligible for the stimulus payment this year. NOTE: if someone claimed you they will need to amend their return and their tax liability will be increased.
2. Do not amend your return. Wait and file your 2020 return and indicate on that return that you are not a dependent. You will receive your stimulus payment in addition to any tax refunds due for tax year 2020.
As a dependent, you are not eligible for the stimulus payment.
If i put an amendment in and change it will i be eligible for the package or is it to late
