I just started working on my 2021 taxes within Turbotax Home & Business. It started with pulling in my 2020 return data and asked me to confirm both my employer and my wife's employer for W2s. When I got to the screen where I needed to enter in the amounts from the W2, I noticed that the employer identification number from my wife's W2 was showing up on mine and my employer's employer identification number was showing up on her W2. There seems to be a mapping issue with employer identification numbers where they are being mapped to the wrong W2 when pulling in the data from 2020 returns into 2021.

TurboTax doesn't "map" W-2s by EIN or anything else. When you begin to enter a W-2 in a joint tax return, you select which person the W-2 is for. You have to click a button for either you or your wife. Then you enter all the information for that person's W-2, including the EIN.
If your W-2s are mixed up, I recommend that you delete all the W-2s and start over. Make sure you have selected the correct person before you begin to enter each W-2.
After you have entered all your W-2s you will get a summary screen that lists all the W-2s and shows who each one is for. Check the summary carefully to make sure that each W-2 is assigned to the correct person.
I am very familiar with TurboTax and software development. There is certainly a bug here.
When I initially was presented with the two employers that were carried over from 2020 to 2021, the one for myself and the one for my wife, when I click on my own employer, it shows the EIN of her employer and when I click on her employer, it shows the EIN of my employer. This data was correct in TurboTax 2020 so is being incorrectly mapped when coming over from 2020 to 2021.
For now I just re-placed the mis-mapped EIN with the correct one for each of our employers but I wanted to report the bug since I think it's likely that others will run into this.
Well, there is indeed something wrong here, but I'm not sure what. I started a new joint return and transferred from a 2020 return with one W-2 for each spouse. I see an anomaly, but not as bad as what you described.
The EIN appears on two different screens. It's not clear to me exactly where you are seeing the wrong EINs, or where you replaced them.
The screen "Your W-2 info so far" lists the two W-2s and says "Needs review" for both of them. When I click Review for one of the W-2s, the first screen says "Let's Start With a Bit of Info from your W-2." It asks for only the EIN, which is pre-filled. If I click Review for the husband's W-2 first, it does indeed show the EIN from the wife's W-2. But if I click the wife's W-2 first (after starting over from scratch), it correctly shows the EIN from her W-2. In other words, no matter whose W-2 I select, it shows the EIN of the wife's employer.
When I click Continue on the screen with just the EIN, the next screen shows whose W-2 it is, and has the employer's name and address. On that screen the EIN is correct, even for the W-2 that had the wrong EIN on the previous screen. So I don't have to make any corrections. It has corrected itself.
The employers in the return that I am working with are not import partners, so the W-2s cannot be imported. I don't know if that makes any difference.
I will alert the forum moderators to this problem. They might contact you asking for additional information, either in this thread or in a private message or email. I put a lot of detail in my description above, as much for the TurboTax people to look at as for you.
I've seen many questions for that. See if anyone already posted it for the mod.
RJS, thank you for confirming that you too experienced the issue.
Yes, I started on the "Your W-2 info so far" screen, then clicked on "Needs review" next to my employer name. Then I noticed that the EIN was incorrect. I didn't initially realize it was my wife's EIN, I just noticed that it was wrong so I changed it to the correct EIN and filled in all of the remaining box data for that W-2. Then when I was returned to the "Your W-2 info so far" screen and clicked on "Needs review" next to my wife's employer name I realized that the EIN that was listed was my employer's EIN and that's when I realized that the two EIN's had been reversed.
