No, you don't necessarily have to repay it.
The way to tell if your 1099-G is taxable to you is to enter it in that section:
1.
Click Federal
on the left-hand side menu.
2.
Click Income
across the top.
3.
Scroll down to Unemployment and click Show
more.
4.
Click Start
or Revisit by Unemployment and paid family leave.
Then:
- Go to Tax Tools on the
left-hand side.
- Go to Tools.
- Go to View Tax Summary.
- Click Preview my 1040 from
the left-hand side.
The amount reported on your 1099-G should be on either line 19 of your 1040, or line 13 of your 1040A.
It gets added in with all of your other income, and your total tax paid brings the tax owed amount down.
