Box 15 says invalid but its same numbers on my w2
Box 15 has two sections in it.
- The first part is State and you should have you states two letter abbreviation.
- The second section is the Employer's state ID number.
- If there is no number there, or the one you have doesn't work. You can use the number in Box b in the top left corner of your W-2.

Box 15 says invalid but its same numbers on my w2
When dealing with state taxes, boxes 15, 16 and 17 must all have data in them. None of them can be blank.
If your state does not tax personal income, then all three boxes "must" be blank with absolutely no data in them. Not even a space.
