Before entering the AMT section my Fed. Bal. Due was $1,865. TT says that my AMT is $3,885. Why does my Fed. Bal. Due not increase (it remains at $1,865)?

Before entering the AMT section my Fed. Bal. Due was $1,865. TT says that my AMT is $3,885. Why does my Fed. Bal. Due not increase (it remains at $1,865)?

The balance due to the total tax (regular tax, AMT tax, penalties etc) less the credits.

It already took into account the AMT.

When you entered the AMT area, it was already computed, and while you may have made some adjustments, the total tax did not change.  For example, when you entered something the AMT might have gone down or up, and the regular income tax may have moved the same amount in the opposite direction.

If you already paid for TurboTax look at lines 44- 47 of the Form 1040.

If you have not paid you can look at a working copy of the Form 1040 by:

Log in your account

Click Take Me to My Return

Select My Account (left side of screen)

Select Tools

Select View My Tax Summary

Here you will see a Tax Summary of your return so far

In the gray banner, click Preview my 1040

Click on Back in the upper left to get back to the regular part of TurboTax.

You may view your 1040 by following these steps.
