kinda duplicate of this thread
we had a simple backdoor roth ira in 2025
turbo tax failed to put anything in form 8606 Line 8 despite of the following tries
1. delete form 8606 manually
2. delete 1099r from wage and income, and type in everything again
it seems the issue has been there many years -- Line 8 was empty in 2019
https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/how-to-report-a-backdoor-roth-ira-on-turbotax/
I don't think this is correct as
1. form 8606 clearly states that Line 13 is the sum of Line 11 and Line 12, while Line 11 is Line 8 * 1.0
2. we used a CPA back in 2024, and in CPA's Form 8606, Line 8-12 all have numbers
I don't think the reply from TT "according to the TT rep this means Line 8 is supposed to show the amount that is taxable" in "https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/get-started-in-community/discussion/re-roth-conversions-not-popula..." makes sense.
can turbotax provide a solution?

from the article you posted - it's empty because "Turbotax uses the “Taxable IRA Distribution Wkst (per IRS Pub. 590-B)” to fill out this form"
if you see asterisks next to the amounts that's why the form is empty for those lines. Not sure what triggers it as whenever I enter one with desktop Mac premier it populates all the 8606 lines.
is the outcome on Lines 13 onwards and your 1040 Line 4b correct?

see worksheet 1-1 on p18 here and sample 8606 following
thanks for mentioning that, and seems that's the reason
I did see some other webpage mentioning 590B, and I thought it was a form like 8606 and I couldn't find it.
so yes, you are right, there is taxable IRA distribution worksheet and everything is there.
