Away rotation resident physician

My wife is completing her residency in ophthalmology and was required by her job to move to a different city and work for about a month. Are the living expenses deductible under unreimbursed work expenses?

Yes, for a temporary job location you can deduct unreimbursed living expenses.  IRS looks as temporary guideline as less than one year.  Below is much more detail if needed.

Federal Taxes Tab 

Deductions & Credits
