Are our taxes due on June 15 or October 15? We are out of the country and filed an extension.

Any taxes owed on the 2017 tax return were due and payable on or before April 18, 2018 to avoid the late payment penalty and interest on the unpaid taxes.

If you were out of the country on the due date of the 2017 tax return, you are automatically given a two month extension to file your tax return, June 15, 2018, without having to file a Form 4868 Extension Request.  This does not give you any type of extension to pay the taxes owed, only file your 2017 tax return.  The approved Form 4868 gives you up to October 15, 2018 to file the 2017 tax return.

If you have taxes owed on the 2017 tax return, it would behoove you to file the 2017 tax return as soon as possible and pay the taxes owed to stop further accruals for the failure to pay penalties and interest owed on the unpaid tax debt.
