The $48 would be your refund before the stimulus credit.
If you see $1,800 on line 30 of your form 1040, then this is the Recovery rebate credit (for your two missed stimulus payments). This amount is included in your refund amount.
So if your refund amount is $1,848 including the $1,800 Recovery rebate credit, then your 'normal' tax return is $48.
The Recovery rebate credit on line 30 is included in your refund or reduced a tax due. Did the IRS send you the 1848 yet? So the 48 would be your regular refund without the Stimulus payments.
