Are dividends from Fidelity Government Money Market fund considered U.S. Government interest?

@ jcarroll337

Some of it likely is, but not usually all of it.  You'll have to look at a Fidelity year-end tax supplement to see the percentage of that mutual fund's dividends that are from US government obligations.   Fidelity should have a tax supplement on its website, likely in a Tax Center section, that shows the percentage of US Govt obligation dividends for its various mutual funds.   Or phone Fidelity customer service for assistance in getting the percentage of the dividends for that fund that are from US Govt obligations.  They should be eager to help.

Once you have the percentage you can calculate the amount of dividends that were from US Govt obligations.

the symbol isn't referenced as they have "Various" - look up by name and you can confirm for 2025 it's 50.90% but also note if you are in CA/CT/NY it didn't meet the threshold.

if you have a significant position for 2026 consider using FDLXX "Treasury Only Money Market Fund" which was 98.67% state exempt for 2025 and meets the CA/CT/NY requirements.
