Your pay for income tax is Jan 1 to Dec 31. Ask your employer about the W2 wages in box 1.
What are you looking at that has those dates? A W-2 would not have dates like those---but a pay stub would have dates. Your W-2 and your paystub rarely match. Your W-2 is only going to show the year---not months and dates during the months. Employers have until January 31 to issue your W-2. Do not try to prepare a tax return using a pay stub.
My husband worked for the state. There were many deductions on his pay. Some pre-tax. I never could reconcile the year end paystub to his W2. Even items not pre-tax got added or deducted from the gross. And it doesn’t go by the pay period but when they actually write the checks.
