Hello,
When filing my taxes for 2021, I needed to report an educational grant, the Segal Education Award given by Americorps, used = solely for education-related expenses. However Americorps recognizes this award with a 1099-MISC form, and I could not find a way to report it on TurboTax that would not subject the award to self-employment taxes. As a result, I reported it instead in Section 8z of Form 1040. I was wondering if there is a definitive way to report this award without running into this problem.
I also have not yet received my tax returns for 2021, and I was wondering if that was normal and/or if there is a way to check if they were received when I sent them back in April.
Thank you!

Thank you for reaching out
For a proper way to report your Segal Education Award please refer to the following post - How do I enter a Segal Education Award?
If you filed your taxes electronically, you would have received an acknowledgment that your taxes were accepted by IRS for processing and the refund status tool will update you with the current status of refund / tax return processing. You may check the refund status by clicking on the following link and completing the required information IRS - refund status tool / where is my refund?
Hope you find this helpful.
Thanks again,
