Does it show on the IRS refund site?

You can check the IRS Where's My Refund website:
https://www.irs.gov/Refunds

You do not want to file a second return  if they received the first or that could cause long delays if two returns are in the IRS system - probably 6 months of more.

It doesn't show up on the IRS site, so I am thinking they may have somehow gotten lost @macuser_22

That happens often which is why when mailing anything to the IRS it should always be sent certified mail with return receipt or other tracking service because that it the only thing that the IRS accepts as proof of mailing.

If mailed 6 weeks ago then it should be there by now since that was prior to the IRS Coronavirus  mail processing shut down.

The IRS has stopped processing paper returns !

They will be sitting for six months anyway.

In this situation I would e-File. especially if you are getting a refund.

P.S.

Make sure your personal exemption status is accurate.

I agree since that will be a delay anyway.
