After my return has been rejected repeatedly. I spoke with IRS and was told the only thing holding it up was a missing ID protection Pin. How do I fix this and refile?

A 2019 tax return can no longer be e-filed using TurboTax, it can only be printed and mailed.

Go to this IRS website for a 6 digit IP PIN - https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/retrieve-your-ip-pin

On page 2 of the Form 1040 -

For 2019, if you received an Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN) from the IRS, enter it in the IP PIN spaces provided next to the space for your occupation. You must correctly enter all six numbers of your IP PIN. If you didn't receive an IP PIN, leave these spaces blank.

To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

Print, sign, date and mail the tax return to the IRS.  Include with the mailed return any forms W-2 and 1099 which have taxes withheld.  Go to this IRS website for mailing addresses - https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment

There are no penalties for filing a tax return after the due date if filing for a tax refund or there are no taxes owed.

I didn't receive an ID Protection number this year so my file keeps getting rejected. How do I fix this?

go to the IRS website to retrieve your Identity Protection PIN  online or have it reissued by phone.

Unfortunately, the IRS would be the only agency that can assist you with this.

See the following link as there is a website you can also use to obtain your IP PIN.

At this point, you will need to either extend your return if you want to electronically file as you will not be able to e-file until you have this number, or you can mail your tax return in to meet the tax deadline.  See below for steps to extend if you want to wait and electronically file once you receive your IP PIN from the IRS.
