The adoption carry forward credit is supposed allowed per the IRS for carry forward years when married filing separately. Why won’t it let me add it?

The IRS does generally let the adoption credit to be carried forward, even if you are filing as "Married Filing Separately" (MFS). However, there are specific conditions that must be met for it to be added.
Once you have checked eligibility - TurboTax can add it for MFS.

If you filed separately last year and joint this year, you should be able to add it using the steps above. What message are you getting that is preventing you from the credit?
