I am sorry for your loss, I offer my deepest condolences.

If your Father passed away during 2016, this tax return will still be filed as a Joint Tax Return. First, you mother will now be placed as the principal Taxpayer on the return. In TurboTax just make sure she is the first person listed when you access the Personal Info tab. If this is not the case, you will have to change the order manually by entering her information in this section.
When you are entering your Father's Personal Info (Name, DOB, SSN, etc.), you will indicate at the bottom of this page that he has passed away, you will select Yes then TurboTax will ask you for a Date of Death (screenshot below).

Once you have indicated the Passing of your Father, you will prepare the tax return as you have in previous years. If you have any questions along the way please feel free to place them on this thread.
