They withdrew $ in Louisiana 6% of winnings No withdraw in Oklahoma
When I did the two non state returns it had LA giving me a refund of most of the $ taken out and in OK it wanted to charge me taxes?

According to the Oklahoma instruction booklet for individual income tax returns, a non-resident is required to file a return if you have gross income of $1000 or more from Oklahoma sources.

The Louisiana non-resident instructions state that if you have income from Louisiana sources and you are required to file a Federal return, then you are required to file a Louisiana return.  You would need to file the Louisiana return in order to get the refund of the taxes withheld.

See the links below to open the instruction booklets for more information.

How does turbo tax separate the gambling losses by state when I have winnings in both states?

Gambling winnings are entered on your federal return as "Other Income." When you are allocating the income earned between your two states, you would allocate the Other Income amount according to how much you won gambling in each state.

Gambling losses are entered on your federal return as an itemized deduction. States have different rules for how gambling losses are deducted from the gambling winnings. Some states do not allow this deduction at all. If you need further assistance allocating the gambling losses, we can help you if you tell us which states you are required to file.
