Accidentally filed as a partnership but should have filed as a trust. How do I fix this?
Just as the title says, the entity is a trust but the return was filed on a 1065. How do I correct this so we are filing as a trust?

The trust return is late and that may cost some $$$ unless no tax is due.....late filing
File an amended 1065 zeroing out the figures and include an explanation.
Send amended 1065 K1s to benes and 1041 K1s to benes and they might have to amend their 1040s.
Big mess.

Yep. Big ol mess. I'm working with another CPA right now trying to get this untangled for them. We were hoping there was a way to do it without going back and amending but it looks like that's the best bet. Thank you!
